What Makes Accurate Research? Tools, Assistants, and Environment
Research and design have made significant advancements over the years. Our world is constantly advancing research around many scientific and medical fields. In order to complete this important research, many tools are needed. A typical research laboratory is filled with all types of research and scientific tools. In addition to the actual tool itself, the quality and proper care of these tools also are important when it comes to advancing research.
Product pumps
Product pumps are used to mix different substances together. Traditional pumping systems cannot be used because they do not accurately measure the exact amount that is being pumped out. When it comes to research and design, however, exact measurements are needed. A single syringe pump, for example, is set at a specific measurement. The single syringe pump is then measured in the number of pumps used and accuracy can be better tracked. Single syringe pumps are probably one of the most common research tools and you are likely to find them in every scientific laboratory.
Dry ice makers
Many research projects need to be manipulated by temperature. This can be done in a variety of ways. To heat products, a magnetic hot plate stirrer creates a rotating magnetic field to mix components in order to get a homogeneous liquid mixture. The benchmark hot place stirrer has a speed range of 60 to 1500 rpm. Probably more common, however, is the need for cooling an item. This can be completed with dry ice makers. The project can easily be cooled, without having to use actual ice cubes, which could be filled with bacteria that could contaminate the results. An immersion cooler or constant temperature circulator might also be used to keep the project at a consistent temperature.
Chemical hoods
Chemical hoods are used both for improving research and for the safety of the laboratory workers. Many projects involve the use of chemicals and products that could be harmful, especially when used in large quantities. Chemical hoods need to be strong enough to remove these harmful products from the air, in a timely speed. There are four types of chemical fume hoods, conventional fume hoods, bypass fume hoods, auxiliary air fume hoods, and specialty hoods. It is important that a lab uses the type of hood that best suits their needs. Chemical hoods can also prevent products from mixing, which can be a fire risk.
Numerous timers
Timing is also a very important part of the research. Research assistants need to know exactly how long they manipulated a product and how long until that project started to show results. These laboratory equipment products might not be as advanced or scientific as single syringe pumps or other research equipment, but they are just as important to the accuracy of the results. Timers should be placed in easy to read places and should always be handled with care.
The importance of experienced laboratory assistants
In addition to the high quality laboratory equipment and a good laboratory equipment supplier, research also depends on the laboratory assistant. They are the person that is manipulating the research and they will directly affect the results. It is important to remember that there are three variables that dictate the level of efficiency in a laboratory, the people working in the lab, the processes they follow, and the equipment they have and how they use it.
Research is an integral part of the world. It sets the pace for where we are at technologically, medically, and research orientated. Without high quality laboratory equipment and experienced laboratory assistants, we would never advance in the research industry. Fortunately, we have continued to evolve and keep up with these important needs.
